Akron Friends Meeting
Meeting with Attention to Business May 12, 2024
Present: Leah Holden, Linda Beaty, Janet Dando
After a period of worshipful silence, the clerk asked Friends to continue worship by taking up the business of the meeting.
1. Friends approved the minutes of the previous meeting as posted.
2. Treasurer’s Report
Leah reported that there has been no activity this month. She asked for contact information for AIIA (Akron Interfaith Immigration Advocates) so she could send the check Friends approved.
3. Old Business
A. Friends approved the State of the Meeting Report and the Memorial Minute for Adele. Janet will send them on to Lake Erie Yearly Meeting.
B. We discussed the details involved with holding a hybrid (simultaneous in-person and Zoom) meeting. Linda has offered to host an in-person meeting in her home, and Leah agreed to host the Zoom meeting from her home. For a start, we agreed to hold one hybrid meeting per month on the third Sunday of the month. Meetings on the 1st, 2nd, and 4th and occasional 5th Sundays will be held on Zoom. We’ll see how that works out, and may add additional hybrid meetings at a later time.
4. New Business
A. Leah is working on setting up a website for AFM with the help of her son. She’d like for us to consider and discuss content next month.
5. Announcements
A. Janet reminded Friends that LEYM will be held at Ashland University from June 13-16, 2024. She will attend and encouraged others to participate in all or part of the weekend.
Friends returned to silence before the rise of meeting.
